Professional Cost Consultants — founded 1995 in South Africa, offices across Australia, Canada, the Middle East and Africa — runs its complete Australian IT environment through whedo.it.
Professional Cost Consultants International — PCC — is a specialist project-services practice formed in 1995. Estimating, estimate validation, commercial management, procurement, cost administration, cost control and planning, delivered into large-scale mining, engineering, petrochemical, infrastructure and commercial-construction projects globally. PCC isn't an engineering generalist with cost-consulting bolted on; from inception it has only ever done these things, which is why tier-one mining and infrastructure clients keep it embedded in their project teams from feasibility through commissioning.
From a founding office in South Africa, whedo.it now runs out of strategic hubs in Australia, Canada, the Middle East and Africa. The Australian entity sits at Level 1, 89 St Georges Terrace in Perth — and whedo.it is its IT partner end-to-end. The complete Australian environment, all of it, all the time.
The architecture is Azure Virtual Desktop with Published Apps as the delivery model. Cost engineers, estimators, planners and commercial managers don't see a desktop in the cloud — they see the specific apps their role needs, delivered cleanly into their local session. Estimating software, document control, project finance, M365: licensing right-sized per role, performance predictable per app, onboarding a new staff member a matter of assigning a group rather than building a workstation. Field-deployed engineers on mine sites get the same office experience as the Perth team.
Identity sits on a hardened M365 tenant: conditional access, MFA, Intune device compliance, and Privileged Identity Management in place by default rather than bolted on after an incident. Nerdio Manager Enterprise handles AVD orchestration — auto-scaling host pools, intelligent shutdowns, image lifecycle by policy. Costs stay anchored. Capacity flexes with the working day. Acronis Cyber Protect backs the full estate — immutable, off-site, AU-resident, rehearsed restores — including independent backup of the M365 mailboxes, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, because Microsoft's retention is not a backup strategy for an organisation handing tier-one mining clients commercial-in-confidence project numbers.
Multi-year, continuous, no rebuilds. PCC is the kind of engagement where the IT function is judged by what it doesn't do — show up as a problem — and whedo.it has, for the length of the relationship, met that brief.
Whedo.it runs the complete Australian IT environment for Professional Cost Consultants International — a multi-year continuous engagement covering AVD Published Apps, M365 governance, identity hardening, and Acronis backup and recovery.PCC · Professional Cost Consultants International · whedo.it client

I built this business because I wanted to do Managed services properly — for a small number of clients, at a senior level, with the same person on the end of the phone every time. The work is too important and the stakes are too high for anything less.
Behind the formal qualifications: a Cyber Security degree from the University of the Sunshine Coast, currently working on my Master’s, plus a continuous stack of Microsoft, Acronis and Nerdio certifications — the ones that have to be renewed because the threats don’t stay still.
Behind the certifications: thirty years of doing the work. I cut my teeth in consulting, then went to Cisco on the team building the original iPhone — Cisco’s VoIP handset, the trademark Apple later acquired in the 2007 settlement. At TPG in 1999 I sold frame-relay networks when frame-relay was the cutting edge of business connectivity. I built and sold a Sydney-based MSP called Online IT before relocating to Perth.
Three decades of watching what’s actually changed and what hasn’t. The technology has changed almost beyond recognition. The principles haven’t. Identity first. Backup that has actually been tested. A senior practitioner who knows your environment. Calm in an incident. Honest answers when the answer is “no.”
That’s whedo.it. That’s the brief. That’s why long-tenure clients don’t leave.
