OneDrive icons explained — cloud, tick, people, exclamation

OneDrive uses a tiny status icon next to every file. Here’s what each means.

  1. Blue cloud — file is in the cloud only, will download when you open it. Saves disk space.
  2. Green tick (outline) — file has been downloaded to your device but can be cleared if disk gets tight.
  3. Solid green tick — you marked it “Always keep on this device”.
  4. People silhouette — the file is shared with at least one other person.
  5. Red exclamation — sync error. Right-click the OneDrive cloud icon in the system tray to see what’s blocking.
  6. Two arrows spinning — actively syncing right now.

Still stuck after those?
