My microphone isn’t working in any app
Windows-level permission, default-device, or the mic itself.
- Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → check “Microphone access” is On.
- Below that, check the specific app that needs it is allowed.
- Right-click the speaker icon (system tray) → Sound settings.
- Under Input, pick the correct mic in the dropdown. Speak — the bar should bounce.
- If no bouncing: try another USB port, or another mic if you have one.
- Restart Windows. Yes, still required sometimes.
