On 8 September Nerdio opened the public preview of Nerdio Compass, a discovery and assessment tool for Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop and Intune environments. It’s free during the preview. The focus is cost analysis and Citrix policy assessment ahead of a move to Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop.
Most desktop migrations stall on the same question: what are we actually running today, and what will it cost on the other side? Users, sessions, applications, peak concurrency, policies nobody remembers setting. Gathering that by hand is slow, and guesses made at this stage turn into Azure bills later.
If a Citrix renewal is coming up, or you’re still running an ageing on-premises terminal server, an assessment is now cheap to get. It won’t make the decision for you — sizing, licensing and the user experience still need someone who has done it before — but it replaces guesswork with numbers.
